The Scene
The ancient city of Bhaktapur is about 15km east of Kathmandu. Known for many things, including it's paper and pottery, it is perhaps best known for its intricately carved Newar wooden windows. The craft was at its height in the mid-1700s, with some of these windows being hundreds of years old.
In this photo, you can see the window itself is at a slant, weighed down by the red brick facade that it sits within. But the degree to which many of these windows remain preserved is astounding.
