The Story

On a bright sunny day in the coastal town of Nha Trang, I stumbled upon this teal and turquoise scene. Mending nets is an important job in Vietnam, and the net seamstress here (Phuong) has been doing so for 20 years. If any part of a net is in good shape, it will be kept while weaker sections are replaced.

While mending nets, fuchsia flowers from the tree above – providing much needed shade – would occasionally fall down onto the nets below, adding a touch of purple to the green. Noticing this, I added a few extra fallen flowers to the scene for good measure. It makes for a gentle and peaceful display. Turquoise Tranquility.
