The Scene

Page, Arizona is home to some of the world’s most famous slot canyons. Upper and Lower Antelope garner most of the attention, but there are other canyons less traveled, like Canyon X, offering similarly spectacular views.

On this particular day, I remember reaching a point in the canyon where an overhead sun finally could pierce it's light all the way through to the canyon's sandy floor depths below, with reflecting light off sandstone walls creating a cascade of yellows, oranges, purples, reds and blues. It’s a majestic scene, and an ever changing kaleidoscope of color, heavily influenced by the time of day and year when you visit – making each trip into the canyons its own unique show of light. This one seemed transcendent.
