Once upon a time, where the Chau Doc and Bassac Rivers meet in Vietnam’s An Giang province, near its border with Cambodia, there was a thriving floating market in this area — but no more. Still, you will find many who fish these waters and use them for basic transportation. I was fortunate this woman ventured close enough to the nearby shoreline, where smoother waters helped to create a mirror-like reflection. In the middle of her boat you can see a scale for weighing produce, along with a sturdy carry bag just behind. Both are readily identifiable items, common all throughout the country.
